Crash Involving Bus And Car Sends 8 To Hospital

Lt. Jack Babb with Quint 2 said there were two people in the car. Lt. Babb said the firefighters had to use the "Jaws of Life" spreaders and other equipment to extricate one of the occupants from the car. Meantime, firefighters were also checking on the passengers in the bus, which carried 21 passengers, plus the driver.

Hamilton County EMS arrived on the scene with several ambulances. EMS Chief Ken Wilkerson said they transported a total of eight patients. One patient, taken from the car, was rushed to Erlanger Medical Center with serious injuries, while the other seven were transported non-emergency. Most of W. Main Street and the exit ramp for close for a time while the wreck scene was cleaned up. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Chattanooga Police Department.
