Firefighters will be at Sam's Club on Lee Hwy. Ace Hardware on Hwy 58, McDonald's on Hixson Pike, Chick-Fil-A on 153, Coolidge Park and varies Wal-Mart locations (Brainerd Road, Signal Mountain Rd., Highway 153, Cummings Hwy.) from 8 AM to 5PM each day to collect money in support of MDA. These "Boot Drives" offer the community a chance to donate money that will be used in the battle against neuromuscular diseases.
The proceeds collected from the Boot Drive will aid local children and adults with neuromuscular diseases by providing clinic visits, support groups, a week-long summer camp for local children ages 6-17 to attend, and most importantly research.
For over 55 years, firefighters and MDA have partnered to fight neuromuscular diseases.
As if it doesn't suffice to jump into burning buildings, respond to emergencies in hazardous, life-threatening situations, and place it all on the line every day, some firefighters find the time to even go beyond that calling. One such department is the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Last year they were able to raise over $18,000 because of the generosity of our local citizens. Please save your spare change and help fill a boot this weekend to make a difference.
MDA is a volunteer health agency working to defeat more than 40 forms of muscular dystrophy and related diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public .health education. MDA's programs are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors.
